Karakorum, the ancient capital of Mongolian Empire, was built in 1235 by Ugudei Khaan who was the successor of Chingis Khaan. The old capital was almost completely destroyed in 1377. But in 1585, Avtai Sain Khaan of Mongolia built the first and the biggest Buddhist monastery on the site of the old capital in 1586. The monastery, Erdene zuu, is kept in good shape until today. The crafts and paintings stored in the monastery are “a must see ” masterpiece of work. Visit the monastery and explore more about the historical city.

Kultegen and Bilge Khaan’s legendary Monuments are two memorial stone installations erected by the Turkish people written in Old Turkic alphabet in the early 8th century in the Orkhon Valley. Recently Turkish government built a great museum in the area which explains much of the old Turkic age in the area. (BLD)

Khustai National Park is the home to wild horses called Przewalski horses or takhi, in Mongolian. However, it is not true Przewalski horses is the only attraction of the Park. Because the Park occupies such a vast territory, there is sample opportunity for various outdoor activities such as takhi and bird watching, hiking, horse or camel riding, photo shooting and visiting ancient artifacts there.
Takhi is last wild horse subspecies surviving in the 21st century. Unique wild horse – Takhi reintroduction project at Hustai National Park started in 1992. As the successful implementation of the project today we have over 220 takhi in the park. Dutch couple Mr. Jan Bouman and Mrs. Inge Bouman and Mongolian well known researcher Tserendeleg Jachin, the first Mongolian scientist who was in expedition to Antarctic initiated this brilliant event. (BLD)
